Am I The Only One Who Isn’t At All Put Out By Having To Wear a Mask and Check-in?

We’re removing mask mandates, density limits and basically every other restriction—time for everyone to act like ‘responsible adults’ again

I get it, masks are annoying. Do you know what’s more annoying than wearing a mask? Getting Covid.

I know that because I recently had Covid. I picked it up late after my husband brought it home from work and was the sickest I’ve been in years. Weeks later, I’m still struggling with the brain fog and fatigue as is my husband who was asymptomatic at the time of his positive test. And don’t get me started on the guilt I’m carrying knowing that my toddler had it and not knowing how it might affect her long-term.

It was frustrating, you know? Because we were firmly in camp ‘try not to get it’ when many people we know are in camp ‘everyone is going to get it’—Also something to not get me started on. And so far, we are the only ones who got it.

I guess now I’m in camp ‘try not to get it, again’.

I know my chances of that are greatly reduced by wearing a mask when I venture out in public. That’s why the last time they ditched the mask mandates right as Omicron arrived on our doorstep, I…
