Writing prompt? Check. Involves music? Double-check.

Thanks to this piece by Will Hull and the Plethora of Pop publication run by the fantastic Pierce McIntyre, I find myself spending the only miserable afternoon since I started my holiday two weeks ago answering a tricky writing prompt.

‘Write something relating to a song about thanks or giving’—Being Australian and not celebrating thanksgiving, this is relatively open slather because I don’t have any associations, musical or otherwise, with the holiday itself.

I figured my best bet was to write about the song that immediately popped into my head.

Thank You (For Loving Me At My Worst) by The Whitlams.

If you’re a reader of my work, this band is probably starting to sound familiar. They are one of my all-time favourites and for good reason. Tim Freedman, in my humble opinion, is a lyrical genius. You might enjoy this musical challenge entry made up of
